Towns
and Villages :
Tournon d'Agenais picturesque hill top town.
Puy l'Eveque - 'The Bishop's Well' don't miss the view from across
the river. Some quaint 13th 14th & 15th century buildings 12th
century tower.
Cahors - the famous Valentré bridge over the river Lot, tiny streets in
the old part of the town, a fine cathedral, museum of the resistance,
lively cafés, open air theatre. You can take a guided tour on the
little train.
Penne D'Agenais with its fine Basilica.
St Cirq Lapopie - one of the most beautiful villages in France
perched on a cliff on the side of the Lot, stunning
views across the river, 12th century church, tiny shops and ancient
houses.
Rocamadour The most famous site in the Lot, clinging to the
cliff face, superb views, fascinating old town steeped in history, many
interesting things to see

Grezels - 13th Century built by the bishops of Cahors, hosts a
wine museum

Enjoy a river
trip on the river Lot from Fumel, Cahors or Bouzies
Take the train from Cahors along the valley to St Cirq Lapopie.
The railway winds its way along the sides of the river and offers
wonderful views
Visit the open air museum at Cuzals, discover life on the farm
throughout the centuries, old farm machinery, crafts, reconstructions
and more.
Children will love the Walibi water amusement park near Agen.
Throughout the summer there are craft and antiques fairs, village
fêtes, concerts exhibitions and more...........

Shopping
You can buy fresh free range eggs
and milk from a nearby farm.
In the village, about 5 minutes drive there is a
village shop which sells home made bread and an amazing selection of goods.
In Mauroux (4kms) there is a
baker, general store and car repair shop.
Fumel a large town with a
variety of shops supermarkets and all services is at 10 kms.
There are open air markets in the villages and towns nearly every day of the week, selling wonderful fresh fruit, vegetables and farm products as well as craft stalls, clothing and all sorts of other interesting things !
Montcuq (Sunday), Libos (Thursday), and Prayssac
(Friday) are a must.

Activities
Walking
: Enjoy
lovely country walks all around the house, there are nearly 50 kms of
marked trails in the area.
Swimming
: as well as enjoying the swimming pool, there are several lakes, the
best being at Montaigu de Quercy (15 kms). This has a sandy beach,
childrens play area, a water slide, table tennis, inflatables and
pedalos for hire.
Horse
Riding : You can hire a horse by the hour, or for the whole day,
of take part in an organised ride with others. The nearest riding
stable is 5 kms away and there are ponies for smaller children and
families at Monsempron (15 kms). Riding trails
go through the woods and offer wonderful views.
Tennis:
there is a tennis court in
Serignac and another at Mauroux so don't forget to bring your racquet.
Cycling
: The roads are fairly traffic free so cycling is a pleasure. Off
road cycling on marked trails is a lot of fun, bikes can be hired from
Fumel and Vire sur Lot.
Fishing
: Fishing permits are available for the river Lot or, give the family a
treat and take them fishing at the lake at the Moulin de Guiral at St
Martin le Redon ( 20 kms). The lake is stocked with trout, rods and bait
are free, and you only pay for what you catch.
Canoeing
and Watersports : The Lot, and the Célé offer everything
that canoeists could want, clear waters, breathtakingly beautiful
valleys, peace and quiet. The nearest is on the river Lot at Puy l'Eveque (12 kms)
and at Luzech (25kms) where they also have windsurfing and motor boats
for hire.
Hang
Gliding : Douelle (25 kms) Take a few lessons before jumping off the
cliff and soaring across the valley!

Wine
Cahors
wine is deep red full bodied and ages wonderfully well. Take the
opportunity to stock up and buy directly from the vineyard. Some of the
finest of the Cahors vineyards are very close.
Take
a guided tour at Chateau Latuc (4kms) and find out how wine is
made. Enjoy the finesse of the Prestige (aged in oak barrels). The Vin
de Pays is soft and fruity, red, white, and rosé, great for every day
drinking on holiday. At Chateau Latuc you can also rent your own a row
of vines. Chateau

de Cedre on the road to Puy L'Eveque. Wines here enjoy a fine
reputation, rich, concentrated and well structured, perfect for
aging. For

Duck -
try
magret (duck breast), confit (preserved duck or goose) and the amazing
Foie Gras from this region. Visit the Mas du Saby in Mauroux where
they win medals each year.
Truffles. The truffle market in Lalbenque takes place in December
January and February

Cabecou de Rocamadour - little goats cheeses, try them toasted on a
bed of salad leaves
